SCHOOL IS OUT!!!

So Yesterday my day felt more finishing one of the hardest battles of my life. I came home and slept and am just now waking up. That's 12+ hrs of sleep... I never do that.
CONFESSION TIME: So Sunday was May 5th... aka Cinco De Mayo... aka day before the last final...
So we were studying hard all day everyday since Thursday. Sunday, someone came up with the genius idea to go get tacos... We walk in..."One drink won't hurt?".... Well after the waiters walk around pouring tequila in our mouths a few times and few more margaritas... Let's just say no more studying occurred. And Monday morning wasn't that much fun. lol. DUMBEST THING EVER. Lesson learned. Fortunately the test was easier than anticipated and didn't totally screw up academics.

BUT first semester of nursing school is over with and we're moving on!!!

So for shits and giggles I thought I would post some fun memories of the semester.

  • First jaw dropping moment was when we were in Professional nursing class. In that class we had to make name plates. Well, our teacher was a little older and was struggling to read one girl's name plate, so she said "Sweetie, you need to make that a little bigger"... then... I can spot this voice anywhere in the world. I hear my amazing lab partner holla out "THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!" =) Love my Ashley
  • The next time would have to be in the same class where we played out how to handle awkward situations and how NOT to handle them. "She says she's DTF...I don't know what that means." "Oh my vagina just looks funny"
  • Our class president has a pet peeve. It's very understandable and I know he is not the only one. He can't stand it when people talk or "whisper" in class. It distracts him from what the teacher is saying. Honestly, I get distracted, but I think that's more so because its a THREE HOUR FREAKING LECTURE! Anyways, he's constantly making "announcements" to the rest of the class. Well! One day in class the teacher is talking... and he leans over to the girl next to him to say something and what not. I let out an intentionally loud, "SHHHHHH!!!" For the whole class to hear. Everyone starts laughing. It was all in good fun though because I am not about the drama

  • Another funny was when we were reviewing for our final in Patho. We have one guy in our class that everyone calls out, because well, he is really tall and ripped and wears tight shirts. We are playing a jeopardy style game and whoever dings first states their answer...blah blah blah, you get it. Anyways. Tshirt boy dinged in before the question was even finished; which was something to do with blood pressure. Straight face and all looked at the teacher "Priaprism"... Omg. The teacher's face was just can't even begin to describe it.
  • Another funny from the same day. I drink my water out of a gallon jug. I don't like the attention it brings but I'm lazy and hate the water fountain. Drink out of a jug and you know just how much you have to drink. Wam Bam Done. Anyways. Teacher calls me out about how much she likes me and is impressed by how I drink the whole gallon ladeda... The lovely Ashley announces..."Oh that's not water" lol. Then the teacher says, "Well if that's not water start passing it around." Omg. I love my nursing class.

Anyways. I am hoping to do a lot better next semester. I ended with 1 A, 2 B's, and 1 C. All passing. I can do better, just need to clear my slate of all the excess drama. Until next time!

Life towards the end of First Semester...

So... what have I been up to lately...
Basically.
I feel like I spend so much time trying to study, make note cards, CPRETY sheets, and study sheets. Then by the time I have everything finished, there's no time to study and learn. So after test grades are posted....
Soooo... its the end of the semester, and we have all the big tests and projects now... and then finals. 8 tests in... 18 days? But hopefully with all that time I can actually focus on school and get things squared away and down pat. However right now its a lot of over whelming information so I'm more like
But its all in the mindset. Positive thoughts bring positive outcomes guys. Chin up Charlie. Its all going to be ok. Sigh.... Alright, back to studying. Knock this out, one thing at a time. Love you guys..well...  Ashley =)

BE FLEXIBLE

Ok So I'm going to start posting some tips and pointers for "gym-goers".

Tip o' the day: Be flexible!!!! I ain't talkin yoga here...

...although, those flexible chicks are impressive....

Let me give you the story. I get to the gym. LEG DAY! My favorite.

I start with a light warm-up on the treadmill. Twenty-two minutes later I look around and notice that the machine I usually do first is occupied. No biggie. I looked to the machine I usually use second, weights still loaded... not technically being used, but I don't want to be "that girl". So I look around again, and the machine I use third is ALSO being used. Again, NO BIGGIE!!! Fortunately, the smith machine is open which is where I super-set low squats with jump squats. Killers, let me tell you. I begin with my first set of 20 below parallel squats. Finish those. Start on my jump squats and some "lady" walks up and stops me while I'm jumping... strike one...

"Can I use this?"
I look at her befuddled...
She continues saying how I won't be in her way and how she uses the SMITH MACHINE for PUSH-UPS and PULL-UPS because she needs the stabilization....
Oh so glad to know I won't be in your almighty way...SMITH MACHINE? PULLS-UPS? PUSH-UPS? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!

I try to clarify, "The smith machine?"... like the thing I was just using not even 2 minutes ago...
"Yes, you're not using it right?"
..."Ummm. Yes, I'm super-setting squats with jumps."
"Oh"... along with a highly inconvenienced look.

Well, I finished. One of the guys came up and asked if I was finished. Being polite, I told him I was, but that another lady had wanted it. So I go find "said lady" and let her know I was finished and asked if she still needed it because someone else was wanting it...

"Well see, I do a 4 day cycle. I use the smith machine first. So since I couldn't do it, I'm just going to have to tack it on to another day..."

That is where I smiled and walked away.

People... every muscle in your body can be worked in more ways than one. Yes, I totally get that you have a system and it works. However, there will be bumps in the road and you have to learn to adapt. This is not just your world, stop acting like a damn princess.

In conclusion. Always have a back up plan. Always have alternatives to training. Trust me, I have the biggest phobia of change. I like things the same every day. No surprises. I get it. However, we all know life is like a box of chocolates...You never know what you're gonna get. So always be prepared for change. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. So, BE FLEXIBLE. and have a back up in case plan A falls through or doesn't work out for you. That's it for my rant today.

Happy Trails... or whatever.

Hello All... by all I mean my dear sweet Ashley. lol. So today I want to talk about my "daily reflection" I had at the gym.
The gym for me is strictly "me" time where I focus and try to forget all the bs that's going on at school, or home, or family drama. Lately though, with school and whatnot I haven't made it to the gym. So my quote of the day:

Basically if it really is important to you, You put it in its priority place. At one point, yes gym was priority. I made my whole schedule around lifting, cardio, supplementation, and eating. Right now though, I'm in nursing school. My priority is to make the grades and graduate.

Right now its hard. I'm turning into a self loathing person. Because for so long I made the gym and eating right such a priority in my life that now, its hard to cope with not being at the gym for hours every day. Its a concept that most people won't understand.

So- what am I going to do about it? Simple.

I'm gonna set my alarm 2 hours earlier and just do it! =) haha. No, I can't change my mental status on the importance of gym time. I'm just going to have to find 2 hours out of every day that I'm going to have "me" time. Anyways... here's my workout:

 1 min 8.0 / 1 min 6.0 (repeat 10 times)

Cherry Popping!

So this is going to be a new thing for me. My buddy from class has suggested I start a blog, and well, with all the stressors I have in my life these days, I concluded that the outlet might be nice and help me destress some.

Who am I? Elizabeth Robinson, formerly known as Elizabeth Landrum... with several volumes of nicknames. (Liz, Lizzard, Lucy, 362.5, Izzy, Bibeth, you get my drift). I'm 25, for two more weeks; Married; in nursing school, have two dogs, and have a never ending desire to do a figure competition. haha. I love to workout and yummy healthy recipes. I would rather go to a gym than shopping any day. If I ever hear people talking about working out, you can be sure that I'm eaves dropping. Guilty.

Anyways... maybe I should find a survey or something... Health Hx form. lol. Kidding. I'll look for some things and topics to write about. I actually have a test on Thursday, so I'm suppose to be studying for that. Until next time. Ciao!
